When advocating sustainability is rewarded

post-title

That Roche Bobois is an inspiring brand advocating sustainability through proactive actions for a greener world has so far been indisputable. Now, this inspiring brand has obtained institutional distinction at the 2023 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Awards ceremony, with a finalist achievement in the ‘Environment Preservation’ category.

This accolade is a recognition of the group’s commitment to quality and its ambition in terms of sustainable development, with product eco-design at the heart of its environmental strategy.

In 2006, Roche Bobois implemented a collaborative approach to eco-design that involves all players in its product development and manufacturing chain.

The brand has developed a tool to assess each product's degree of eco-design - ECO8. Developed in collaboration with the French Institute of Technology for Forest-based and Furniture Sectors (FCBA), ECO8 considers criteria based on the analysis of four fundamental stages in a product’s life cycle: materials used, manufacturing, use, and end- of-life management.

Upheld by the United Nations and adopted by 193 countries, the 17 SDGs are a call for action to promote peace, humanity, the planet and prosperity. These goals aim to transform our societies by combating poverty and ensuring a just transition towards sustainable development by 2030.

Ambitious environmental goals

The SDG Awards aim to shine the spotlight on companies that have developed the most innovative initiatives to promote these goals.
Based on the data collected, each product receives a score of 1 to 4. Those that score 3 or higher are considered eco-designed and identified as such on the Roche Bobois website and in the collection catalogues.

Over and above this approach, Roche Bobois has set itself highly ambitious environmental goals. In particular, the brand has decided to increase the proportion of eco-designed models in its new products by 20% every year.
